Stock Boost Numbers

Just curious what you fella's see for stock boost numbers. I can hit about 33. The Air Dog and Quad are not in at the moment, to me this seems awful high for a stock config? I purchased the pu used and have a feeling that it may be chipped? I came straight off the intake horn with my hose!

Stock Boost is computer limited at around 22 psi. It will defuel if you get over that.... and throw codes. Got any?
You may have a boost fooler installed...... or a chip? Have you looked around?

I think it is a downloader? Nothing physically attached that I can see. No codes either. I have no idea about a boost fooler, more info if you don't mind as well as where this may be located? Thanks

If it's attached....would be at MAP sensor! Never used, or even seen, just a boost fooler so.....?

Downloader would make no sense. Seller would want to be able to sell it and would take the truck back to stock, to make it reusable on a different vehicle....unless he did that but the ECM stayed programed.... like with a Smarty.

Either way, no codes says something ok was added. And your ok with the boost around 32+/- psi.
Above that is over reving and super heated air is being ingested in your tiny HY-35 turbo (high EGT's with no more power).

Anything attached to the turbo wastegate arm (turn buckle or a J-Hook)? These hold the wastegate fully closed off.... but by themselves will throw codes and won't ad hp for added boost.

To get that much boost you must have added power. Either injectors or a chip/programer. Don't remember what HP I was at when I got to max boost on my HY-35 turbo, but would guess 300. Just be watchful for slipping stock Torque Converter. Get it dynoed if possible.... and get a fuel pressure gauge. That too will tell if extra hp.

Enjoy what must be extra power....was no extra charge!

Thanks for the info, the extra power is great. Problem is the surging that accompanies it between 40-45. Tranny shop as well as dealer and I have been cahsing this for months. I am going out on the last limb I have to say i hope the issue is a downloader program still on the ECM. We have gone through LP, IP, checked fuel pressure, checked grnds, "installed a happy box, checked alt, drive lines, u-joints, tranny has been rebuilt with Tripple Disk TC, the transmission is working as it should. Good times

Surging is easy. Just lock out OD till 50 mph or so. Keep rpm's above 1600-1700 at all times. Many automatics with built trannys and/or added hp have this scenario when 3rd gear locks up the converter or when tranny is allowed into OD at low speed.
Holding 3rd gear to higher speed is good for engine, driving is more fun and doesn't hurt mileage! (All just my experience).

Where are you located... talking mph or kph?

My experience is low EGT's at high speeds are easy. Try an 8% grade at 60 mph.... or at gross wt and you will be a lot higher. 850* sounds low. On level ground, no wind, at 70 mph, you should be reading 700-750* (good way to check your gauge)! This test will work for any 24v, no matter the hp.or turbo; assuming 6500-7500 lbs weight.
