starting problem(maybe)

my truck would crank first turn of teh key after the light would go out. (instant start)

recently it will go half a revolution it seems like then fire right up.

just curious if something is going out and or be considered to look into it. i thought maybe the starter itself, but havent looked into anything yet. i drive the truck tons over the last 4 days while moving and it doesnt do it everytime, mainly in the mornings before the engine is warm.

thanks all, jiMMy

How long do you have to crank it before it fires?

.5-1 second i guess. before when the light went out i turn the key to start and boom it fired.

not it takes about .5 -1 second and when you turn the key to start it cranks like .5 revolution hence the half to 1 second to start.

basically just asking to see if anything should be checked or if it is a comon starting issue that leads to something else.

**checked all battery terms etc.. everything is tight and secure! **

I wouldn't worry about it.

That is how mine started when the starter was fading. It got progressively worse. It just turns the motor slower and slower. Eventually, after a while, it will fail to turn over. The contacts get burned and the brushes wear out. I wound up getting a lifetime replacement starter at Advance for 136 dollars. That was only about 50 dollars more than I could rebuild my original starter. I felt like it was the way to go.
