clutch problem...maybe slave cyl.??...help

OK, today on the way home after work I went to the bank to cash my check and on the way there, (sitting in bumper to bumper traffic ), my clutch started acting up. What it would do was like a typical slave cyl. problem. I'd push the pedal to the floor, with it in gear, but it didn't disingage. It was still in gear....moving forward....so I had to shut the key off to stop, etc...

Then I get about a half mile up the road and all is fine. I go to the bank, etc.. and go home. I get cleaned up for a night of beer drinkin' and decide that I'm gonna take the truck for a spin first just to make sure all is well. All was well........for a few minutes and then it started again. By this time I was gettin' pretty good at up and down shifting without the clutch.....all I needed was "East Bound and Down" blarin' to feel like a trucker.

Anyway, I get home and look under hood and resevoir is dry and so is line. I didn't check too in depth as I was all cleaned up already. I set parking brake and put my head down by the pedals and started pumping the clutch pedal, and the more I pumped the stiffer it got, so I assume I'm building pressure ? But if I wait just a second or two the pressure was gone. I did this several times and could hear pressure or air or something bleeding off.

I'm thinking that it's either the slave cylinder or the clutch master cylinder??????

Any Help is Greatly Appreciated

Thanks,
-Ryan

I'm thinkin' that its the clutch master cyl. because I can hear the pressure bleed off there.

It IS your master cylinder. There's no way to repair it short of replacing the whole thing.

if the master went dry it must have visable leakage somewhere in the system. i would look at the slave and lines.
