Stans Exhaust Install Tips
When I installed my stan's system my tail pipe was bent wrong. I didn't like the 2nd gen style outlet anyway. I found a place that could work 4" pipe and had it redone to a 1st gen style tail pipe.
Here is a pic of what I ended up with. The stan's tail pipe was 5" to short from the muffler to the rear axle and it droped 5" to low.

Hey guys i was just looking at rip rooks down pipe i see they ofter a 4 inch flange for aftermarket turbo and stock 3 inch for stock is Stan's doing that or do you have to weld the proper flange on when you get the downpipe?
Philip,
First off I just want to say I love your truck B&W truck beds are my absolute favorites. So with your tailpipe being to short from the muffler did you have to put in an extension, if I understand correctly? With many happy customers here on the sight I thought I was the only one with a mis bent pipe.

We added the 5" we cut out of the drop onto the front of the pipe where they forgot it was needed.
It was cheaper to find someone local to rework the tail pipe to what I wanted than to send it back. I didn't even call Stan's about it. With their rep I am sure they would have made it right if I had called.
I like the flatbed. They are a little pricey. But it does what I need and want it to do. Thats all that matters.
Now I need to get the truck cab up to the same quality as the bed.

OK I see what your saying. Well I found out that nobody has the tooling to bend 4" pipe here in AZ at least the 15 places that I called. So I am going to call Stans and see what they can do and I am sure that they are going to fix it no problem. Yet another set back
, and I have had so many that...I have lost count. It seems at this rate I will never get my truck done.

The guy I went to couldn't bend 4" eather. But he had the flairing die. So with a little work we were able to throw together what I wanted.
Well I called Stans and they were helpful and gave me some tips as to how about doing this. With the tips I have everything bolted in all the way to the muffler but now the last two pieces, over the axle and tail pipe.
To start when I try to slide in the next piece over the axle the shocks seem to be right in the way. I figured that this piece has to be cocked a little to the side (toward the tire). I also found out that if it is cocked a little bit then the tail pipe is tough to get it to stick out straight. Anybody know of any tricks to doing this?
Thanks

Ooops, its late an has been a long day of fighting with that exhaust. I guess what I meant by straight was flush with the bottom of the bed, not tilted down to the ground. Clear as Mud right!
Well I have had enough with this install and all of the frustrations the muffler has given me, and I am exchanging the muffler for a straight pipe because I know that it will work. With a straight pipe it looks like it wont hit the frame or come in contact with the shocks. I have call Stans multiple times and they have given me great advice but I am convinced that the muffler is just too big. For some reason it will not fit on my truck
. The hangers are great and line up but since it is too big in diameter it hugs the frame and makes the next two pipes hit the shocks.
I wish I could find someone with a similar problem, but almost everyone is running straight pipes.
Thanks had to rant a bit.

I just got mine installed this past weekend. It seems like a great system, save for someone dropping almost every piece on the bell end before packaging. I also had to take 15 inches off pipe #3 to get it to install right on my standard cab truck. After about three hours of cutting, blocking, and clamping I got the system in and have put on about 400 miles so far. I think it is a good kit, just tries your patience a little.
