Speed Sensor

Just out of curiosity, are the speed sensor with wiring still available for our first gens? If so, about how much are they?

50$ at NAPA...can get the part # if you need it

on edit I see yours is the 4X..... if it is like my 91 W350 was then you have a two-part sending unit.. the VSS and a gear reducer. both can go out independently.
the 4X VSS was 60$ through the dealer here a year ago and the gear reducer was $90....... the dealer was the only place that could get the gear reducer.

Speedometer Servive in Colorado Springs makes gear reducers for $50 (might be $60 by now- bought mine in 03). They are the offset type like on 4x4s. Any ratio you need. He deals with a guy who can redo the 90deg ones like in the 4x2s.

What makes you ask about speed sensors?

Thanks all for the input! I was referring to the magnetic (speed sensor) which is right about the crank pulley, which has an electrical connection. I just removed it during my recent KDP killing. The wiring on my speed sensor was kinda raggady (PO must have got it tangled with a fan blade??). Isn't the VSS connection on the transmission (auto)?
