Soot / Black flakes out the stacks ??

I have noticed a pretty good amount of these flakes coming out of the stacks on start up.

It didnt start happening until around the time I bumped the timming. Is this what happens ?

It also could be that I am adding to much power service Cetane booster to the tank Too. My fuel gauge doesnt work so, I go about 250 miles and fill up the tank and put a good shot of the PS in it.

1)What causes the Soot ?
2) Will running the Cetane boost rich cause problems?

I had a old boat with a T6354M perkins and the stack was thick with the soot. One day my mom was on the boat when I started it and she was black head to toe. I thought it was funny.

Its just the nature of the beast. When I had stacks on, everytime you started it, the sudden jolt would knock some loose.

Yeah, just make sure you're inside the truck with the doors and windows shut.

My white truck is black and gross after a few weeks of driving around. It's kind of a pain to keep clean.
