second gen axle swap into first gen

So i picked up an axle for 350 bucks out of a 1994 3500 i have grown tired of changing controll arm bushing and ball joints in my 92 d350 so im going with a 3 link set up just thought I'd share my experience and ill update as i make progress ill post pics asap

great idea - did you pick up a transfer case as well and transmission adapters as well? 2nd gen - newer are driver side drop while the 1st gens are passenger side drop.

I think he means a solid 2wd front axle the 3500 came that way

No im useing the old getrag 2wd trans because i just had it rebuilt and then i have a gear drive NP205 out of a ford

gotcha, missed the D250 in the first post. Sounds like a solid plan, can't wait to see it come together.

I'm confused.
I have a 94 d3500 dually that has independent front suspension. Please describe What you have in more detail.
Did 94 d3500s come either way, with solid axel or independent ?

I have worked on a couple 2nd gen 2wd 3500s that have had a soild non drive front axle both where in gas trucks if that makes any diffrence

Ok just to clear things up a bit my truck is a 1992 d350 i have a dana 60 from a 94 ram 3500 i am converting mine to a 4x4 using a second gen axle and im building a fully adjustable 3 link for it its been slow going because of a lack of funding and bad wether not to mention my welder broke time for a new one!

Ray, Dualies were all independent suspensions so far as I know, the Cab and Chassis units I have seen both ways, I can not tell you what determined which axle they came with. They are old enough now that perhaps some of the ones that I see with independent front suspensions were duallies that were converted to flatbeds?

How about air ride for this?

Any plans for the rear axle, maybe a nice 4 link kit to bolt a Dana 80 in with full air or something? Looks like you have a decent setup to whip out a few kits for us

No four link for the rear the dana 70 in the rear is still in great shape im just going to match it to the front most likely with blocks until i can afford springs by the time im done my wife is going to want to kill me
