Does anyone know of a second gen alternator is the same as a first gen?

Does anyone know if a second gen alternator is the same as a first gen?

I was wondering if anyone knew if second gen and first gen(92-93) alternators are the same, they appear to look the same, pulley looks slightly different. I've looked up replacement part #'s and some brands are the same, denso lists different numbers for them though... Anyone w/ any experience on this?

The one on my 91 was the same as the one on my 97. I know that. Hope it helps.
