School me on how to drive the CTD

Driving around town i usually turn off teh OD. this puts me at about 45 MPH around 1900-2100RPM's.(if the speedo is right on, im unsure). running about 3psi of boost. 600 on the pyro

On the freeway OD is activiated obviously and can run about 60mph(again if the speedo is right, i dont think it is, 5-8 MPH off)
with about 4psi of boost. 750 on teh pyro.

around town should i let it into overdirve on stretches of road that may allow for cruising alil longer or will the hunting hurt it?

basically looking for best MPG driving style.

i hardly ever stab it if i do in 3rd it will peg 14 psi MAX same in OD on teh highway.

most ive seen is in 3rd pulling a hill empty it hit 16psi.

anyways around town OD off and anythign over 50 run in OD

sound ok?

sorry for sych a lame post but im bored and always willing to learn.

sounds good... I'd leave it in D around town even if you get into the 50-55mph range for short stretches.

As long as it's not "hunting" between OD and direct, it's OK to leave the OD on, you'll get better mileage that way. If it seems like the transmission can't decide what gear it should be in, then it's time to step in and make the decision for it.

I agree, I've tried it with the od off in town and left on, I get slightly better milage with it on.

I would wonder if hovering at just above the range it goes in, would be circulating the fluid fast enuff to cool it efficiently. Might not cook it right away, but something to think about. Not an expert, but it gets triesome buying transmissions.

In my case at least with the super cooler under the bed my trans. never has gotten hot yet, actually it's hard to even get it warm even on a hot day.

I tourchered my auto for 300k to try and make it fail so I could install the 5-spd. left it in od always. Finally it made a noise, just once mind you but it was enough to convince me to pull it out. Haha.

i've got over 183K mi's on my 93 D250 AT and i've learned that it does much better in OD even in the city rather than leaving it in drive. when in drive it gets worse mileage and seems to not do what its supposed to do. yet, while in OD it runs like a well oiled machine!
