Radiator upgrade options

What are some options to upgrade the radiator on a 93 IC truck? Pulling the GN trailer it gets to 210 without even pushing it.

The radiator has been rodded out, new fan clutch... Just gets too hot pulling....

How often are you having the coolant flushed and replaced along with hoses, water pump and thermostat?

All the work I had done was 2 months ago. I was about 107 outside temp and I was pulling the trailer and keeping boost at 15 psi, the EGTs were fine, but the water temp was getting up. When I exited at a off ramp it cooled off pretty quick. I just dont think there is enough capacity... BTW I even added some water wetter to squeak all I can out of the cooling system.... BTW I was using the A/C which doesnt help...

Old radiators often have the fins separate from the tubes, they will look OK at a glance but you can just pull the whole strip of fins out.

One of those nice aluminum Griffin radiators would probably fix it.

Check out Built Tough Radiators. They make some serious aluminum 3 and 4 core rads.

If yer pulling 15 psi boost steady at 107° ambient, with the AC running, and the water temp stays under about 230° and you don't lose any coolant, I would say you are running just fine.

107 is hot
AC at that ambient temp would be running 250 or so, in front of the radiator.
15 psi boost is making some power, and a lot of heat.

It's normal for the gauge to run up under such circumstances. It is only a problem if you lose coolant.

if your truck is an automatic its just about a lost cause trying to cool them with the stock radiator and a tuned motor, the auto, dumps tons of heat into the heat exchanger heating up the water too. I did see a first gen that had the core support modded real heavy and had a 2nd gen rad, and intercooler he was tired of heat but it looked like a lot of work.

Its a 5 speed. I just wonder if a larger aluminum radiator would give me additional cooling.

I agree with you Jmartin which is why Im looking for more capacity. The newer trucks even in 94 had a much larger radiator. I know im asking more of the truck than it was designed for, just need to add more for the added capacity I guess...

Griffin can make one for you. There was a 2nd gen article called the "ultimate towing rig" and it ran a Griffin radiator. They even have a part number for our trucks if you search their site.
