Power windows, locks, and C/C out of commission.
Power windows, locks, and C/C out of commission.
On my 93 the power locks will work if you hold the window button down with the key off. As in, they will try to work, but don't actually make the lock go up or down. Otherwise nothing works. Checked all the fuses, they are good. Checked all the vacuum stuff for the C/C, it is all good so I'm saying it's an electrical problem.
Is there any main wire or fuse link that supplies power to all 3 systems? I hate electrical stuff so please help.

I dont have c/c, but the windows and locks and the fan are all on one fusible link that runs to the brown wire (im pretty sure) at the side of the fuse panel...I have it rigged myself with a 10ga wire from the battery and have a 40A resettable circuit breaker to install soon...I have blown the 30a fuse i stuck in there at the batttery end( a few years ago now), but not very often...
Thanks for the replies. I tore the door apart and got busy with the test light. I have power at the switches from all 5 wires. It seems to me that this would mean that the motors themselves are bad, correct?

my truck has been plauged with multiple electrical gremlins that I have slowly been figuring out. I have a very similar issue. My door locks will lock, but can't get the oomph to unlock. My windows work, but sometimes the starboard window won't open, and sometimes both won't. I've replaced my fusible links with maxi fuses and soldered all my connections and they still exist.
I'm thinking grounding issue, or degraded wires not allowing enough juice. My cruise doesn't work either. I think I will be trying the bigger wire to the fuse as suggested, and refreshing some grounds. I'll be watching the thread to see how much success you have as well. Good luck.

A weak point on the electrical side is between the door and the door jam, flexing as they do. You used a phrase I don't get: ."power locks will work if you hold the window button down with the key off." Do you have two buttons pressed to do this? There may be wear on the tabs that you find on the ends of the door lock link rods, so make sure they're intact and attached. Also the rods can be bent to give complete locking or unlocking. Just bend'em to where they'll work, they're pretty tough. Some on the forum have wired the windows independent of the ignition on a dedicated fuse and relay, and I'll do that too next time I'm at it
