Power loss after rotating fuel pin

I watched some youtube videos about rotating the fuel pin 90 degrees for extra power. Seemed easy enough, so I did it. Pin was a little tough to get out. Carefully looked at the profile of the pin/cone thing and turned it so the most pronounced 'notch' is facing forward in the truck.

Significant power loss. Can't even hear the turbo anymore. I have to gear down to 3rd on hills I used to pull in 5th.

Had it off a 2nd time to make sure I did it right.

Same problem. Any ideas?

Are you getting a boost leak from the steel air line that connects the AFC to the head?

The grease that was there was dried out.

What am I supposed to see down the pin bore? I read about an action rod or something that follows the fuel pin profile. Can this be stuck?

I don't have a boost gauge... will soapy water on the fittings do the trick?

EDIT: I think the guide pin might be stuck. It doesn't move when I move the throttle. Seems to stay buried in its hole.

Sounds like the pin that follows the cone profile is stuck. The pin is towards the bottom of the AFC opening on the side facing the front of the truck. Spray some PB blaster or WD in the opening and try to use a pick to get it to pop out. Work it in and out some to make sure it doesnt hang up again.

Heh. Well that's my problem. I haven't been able to make it pop out yet.

It can be a real pita when they're stuck in the bore...using a pick and jiggling the throttle with large amounts of moovit helped mine finally pop out...

I tried some WD40 and still no go.

I had to disassemble the linkage to get the plug out of the AFC. I used a small deep socket in the hole and a large wrench for leverage to get the pin to budge. A few times back and forth, and it freed right up! Man, it was stuck!

EDIT: Got it all back together after initial confusion.... Good help here:
