please help tranny jumping out of o/d

please help tranny jumping out of o/d

I have a 93 2500 extra cab 4x4 it started coming out of o/d usually i just spray a little contact cleaner and it works but this time it wont go into o/d .So today i tried the pot conversion got all the stuff at radio shack wasnt hard got it all hooked up even checked with a test light but still wont go into o/d any other suggestion would be great the trans shifts great fluid still looks bright PLEASE HELP

check your VSS and speedometer gear reducer adapter..........both on the transfer case. You should also check the electrical connectors.......loose or dirty, etc.

thanks for the great advice i looked under my truck im not sure if its the vss or the gear reducer but it sit on the side of the transfer case screws in on the driver side it was hanging there apparently came unscrewed my problem is now when i tried to put it back on the treads on the piece it self are stripped .My question is this not being attached would make the o/d not work also what is the correct name for this piece also could i get this at the dealer or could i take it off of a dodge at the pick of part your help is much appreciated

The VSS can be purchased at a local auto parts store. The speedometer gear ratio reducer adapter (90* gear reducer) is a dealership only part. You can usually get it straight off the shelf, just depends on the dealership and how much inventory they have. You are probably looking at $100+ for this part.

this is the gear reduucer on the side of the side of the transfer case and the vss is on top ? thanks again for your help

VSS screws onto the reducer.

i bought the vss today from the auto parts store i think the one i had was still good just the threads on the nut stripped out any special instruction on how to install or simply just thread the new one on plud in and go hope o/d works will update

put on the vss but it didnt go into o/d i got my test light with ignition on im not showing any powerto the plug of the vss. i know there is power at the tps so some were im not getting power any suggestions

2 wires or 3 wires on your VSS? Speedo work or not?

it has 2 wires speedo does work .I also tried to start it in drive that wasnt the problem appreciate all the help

you think its the tps? i tried the petomieter but i couldnt get it to work now im starting to wonder if the o/d went out but the trans fluid was changed a month ago probably a 1000 miles still looks like new .I hope it didnt go out
