Tranny jumping out of OD?

First time I ever noticed a problem. 50MPH, light throttle pressure, the OD seemed to slip in and out very quickly about 1 second then engage again. Fluid level dead in the middle, and its time for a flush, any ideas tranny guys?

do a search on transmission problem or shifting problem. It's likely electrical noise, dirty battery terminals, low batteries, governor pressure sensor and/or solenoid, etc.
You'll find something. Could just be the hairy edge of overdrive and you're lugging the motor a bit.

You might try this,,, APPS Reset. It's free and may help.

I did leave my lights on and drained the batteries pretty good just before this happened. I'll do the TPS reset also. Can't hurt.

Thanks Guys!

Well, I tried that and I guess I did it too slowly. The first to second shift was at 3,000 RPM! Then I did the proceedure again and cycled the peddle in about 2 seconds. MUCH better. Pretty normal.

Question= Will the TPS "learn" a better shifting points or did this proceedure teach it something permenant? Is there a time that is specified for the correct shifting pattern?

My problem turned out to be the throttle position sensor. It didn't throw a code either but it was bad. I guess this is common. At least, replacing it fixed the shifting problems. Make sure that you have eliminated all other possibilities as it is a $450.00 part.

I dealt w/ that problem for a while, did all the normal stuff....APPS reset, battery terminals, etc. Finally I ran an extra ground from the PCM to the body and neg. terminal on the battery and it NEVER did it again. Mine was really bad w/ alot of accesories on, with the AC on it would jump out of OD at 60 MPH!
