Arrow Oil Pressure Drop On Exceleration ?

WENT ON 1,500 + MILE RUN PULLING TANDOM AXLE TRAILOR LAST 1/2 HAD RAINGER PICKUP ON TRAILOR .
THE LAST 50 MILES ON EXCELARATION ,PRESSURE WOULD DROP DREMADICLY ,(CHECKED OIL IMADIATELLY) FULL OF OIL.
ANY IDEAS?
ANY TIME YOU PUSH EXCELARATOR PRESSURE DROP,BUT YOU CAN GO 70 OR 75 MPH AND LEVEL OFF AND PRESSURE RETURNS TO NORMAL.
NO ENGINE NOISE ,FULL POWER, NO MODS ON ENGINE.
WHATS GOING ON ???????????????

I notice mine does that every once in a while when the temps are up, coolant and EGT. It has never dropped below the first line and beside the stock guage is flaky at best

Hope this eases your mind a little. Good Luck,
Michael

Engine wasn`t hot , plenty of oil, like i told wannadesil , I was wondering about pluged filter and bypas not operatinc correctly.
If i would keep my foot in it it would drop below first line.

Mine would go two (0) at a idle, replaced the oil pump p.s.i spring and helped slightly but still hung around 0. Put a manul guage on it and the pressures were fin... grate aculy!!! replace sensor and guage work good! !

Just a nether thought......and a story to go with it my brother and i went on a trip to the mopar mile nat.In his v6 dakota, after pulling this heal for what seamed like, for days he nottest the his oil psi had droped, pulled over and the oil was fine but vary hot and so was the out side air. Well long story short going down heal the truck cooled and the psi came up but not to normal and didn't untill the end or our trip and he had the oil changed( the oil had been changed before we left!! Just My .02!

Yeah, if you are in doubt throw a cheap mechanical gauge on there temporarily. The only thing the stock gauge is good for is telling you you have "some" oil pressure. With the Cummins, "some" is usually plenty.

Had that happen to me. Accelerated onto the highway and the guage dropped all the way down...then went back to reading 30 on the stock guage. Put a mechanical one on it and found that pressure is fine and I am running 45.

This is probably stupid but I thought I'd mention it anyway. Is it possible that under a lot of accelleration the oil in the pan is sloshing to the back and air is getting picked up by the oil pump?

I don't think even Stomp's truck could pull a loaded tandem axle trailer that hard.

Dave , I assure you it doesn`t have that kind of exelaration.
HA! HA!
I was actually considering a 3200 spring and opening up the pump a little before all this happened.

Happend to me, sending unit was flaking out on me. Put a mechanical gauge to check it, hot at idle I had 30psi, just off idle it buried my 50psi gauge. Put a new sending unit in and no problems since.
