which battery, and where to get it?

Well,

due to other issues, and stupidity, I've run down my battery a couple times, and I don't know how old it is...

I searched on here, but I don't see people talking specifics about which battery is best, or where to buy them.

I currently have a 950 CCA, but I see people here talking about a 1000. I was at three places today (Costco, Kragen, Sears) and they didn't have anything close!

electricly,
Tys

I've got one of those big yellow walmart batteries in mine, the biggest one walmart had (975cca). cost me less than $65. Three year warranty, theres always a walmart close by to bring it back to, they never test it, just give you a new one. It starts my truck just fine, runs the plow pump motor, and the rotator light on the roof no problem, never had any problems with it.

Optima-shmoptima is what i say, i think they are way overrated and a big waste of money....but to each their own.

Tys, a 950 is plenty if you live in a warm climate. (I think I recall you saying you live in CA.) The factory spec is a 1025, but that's to cover starting unplugged in Minnesota in January. Guys in the South run 750's routinely with no problems.

On batteries, I shop by price and replace them every 2 years. Works for me.

I purchased a battery recently from Napa. You need the Group 31. Buy the biggest one that you can get.

I usually look for something with a sealed top (like a Delco) so it doesn't barf acid all over everything and corrode the connections.
