Noise in 4wd??

Quick add to my sig. Have replaced steering box and added borgeson shaft over summer. What a big change. Here is my ? With hubs locked in and in 2wd, no noise runs great. When I engage 4wheel, I get a clicking sound when turning hard left and a bit of noise when running straight under power, sound goes away if I push in clutch and coast. Any ideas?? U-joints on front driveshaft maybe? Cant check it out now, got 10 inches of snow on ground. Truck still goes anywhere in 4wd, just dont wana use it much till I get this resolved. I greased the whole front end a few months ago. Thanks in advance. Jeff

Based on your description, I'd start by checking out the U-joints in the steering knuckles.

Once again BC, thanks for the input, I knew I have seen that write up before. I can only hope that fixes my problem, but it seems strange that it wouldnt affect my hubs-in-2wd steering. Or I may be missing something, it happens alot for me. Thanks again., Jeff

I had the same problem but I found one of my lockouts had come apart and I guess it was allowing the axle shaft to have too much endplay. The bad thing is the lockouts for a diesel truck are four times higher than for the light axles!!

No, just the lockout that locks the axle in and out.
