Sucks for him then, just trying to give a few low cost suggestions before he does anything major. I would not have thought Dodge would change so much between the generations, as well as the problem is exactly what I went through. Oh well, live and learn.

Nope. The light should be the same brightness no matter which switch is grounding it. Any variation in brightness is due to a lousy ground at the switch in question.

On my dads 91 he had and the 90 I had vacuum leaks were the cause of those lights coming on. Some new vacuum hoses and they were good to go.

Hey guys sorry I havn't been able to reply but I didn't get my truck checked and and just so happend the rear breaks were failing...(not sure how or what they were doing)...but had my mechanic work it all out. However i'm sill having weird speedometer problems...I took the whole cluster out and pulled the speedo and cleaned it and checked the connections. Put it all back it and great now it works! But......its like 25-30mph faster and so far its been working. I did notice that if it wouldn't move i'll reset the miles and it will start working incorectly again. But after some more poking around in the truck I began to suspect that the person who had it before I bought it had left it sitting for awhile. I'm guss maybe it had a look or something somewhere because it had a think musky smell. And I also notice that the headliner fabric had probly fallin off. The seat also looks weatherd and there are some rust spots in tight or inclosed area's that could collect some moister. So it problem got wet and is probly all screwed up now. So i'm probly goin to have to find a used speedo and if that fails I guess i'll have to slash my wallet 250-300 $$$

Hey Dave, whazzup??!! On my truck(92), the brightness of the warning lamp did increase with the parking brake applied; in other words, when started the ABS and BRAKE lamps came on, seemingly at equal intensity. If the parking brake was applied, the BRAKE light DID get brighter, and would lessen again if brake was released...'course that could have been a bad ground as you say, but I always thought it did indicate a separate function(as Leper mentioned). Not so, eh? BTW, I did as mentioned above and unplugged the ABS computer behind the glove box; Poof! No more ABS/BRAKE lamps on, and the BRAKE still lights on startup and lights with the parking brake w/no ill effect on braking(just to let the original poster know).

If you haven't already checked it there is another plug at the rear of the engine above the transmission that will do some funky stuff with the speedo if it gets loose or dirty. After I replaced the sensor on the transmission I found I had a bad connection there on my '93. Hope this helps as well.

Hey guys thanks again for the input. I finally found a used cluster and pulled out the old one and put the the new old one. Well after a quick test drive it was all the same. The speedo is still about 25mph faster for some reseon. I am getting really frustrated because I really need an accurate reading. Now i'm not sure if the odo is right because it seems like its getting the wrong singal and the speedo thinks thats how fast i'm really going. I guess I'll check the sensor on the tranny if it has one. It is a five speed stick so I don't know whats down there. I'll check in later thanks!

While you're tinkering around, don't look and assume something looks clean, physically remove, clean, lube (die-electric) and reconnect all your fittings under the hood, one at a time. CLean your battery to frame grounds and you might even add a ground from frame to engine. Change out your headlight switch (easier than cleaning). This is gonna help narrow down your current issues (was that a pun?) and prevent a lot of future grief. Make sure your emergency brake is all the way up and not bouncing around. If no wet spots anywhere or loss of fluid, mastercylinder is probably bad or might need bleeding if it appears to be newer. ABS light on just means ABS itself isn't functioning. Check the tech info like advised earlier if you want to restore the ABS. If it needs a brake job in the rear, you can get some larger GM 1ton shoes and cylinders. Mine was already done when I learned this, so I don't have part no.s.

Sounds like you are missing the ratio adapter. Is the VSS mounted directly to the trans or is there a 90 degree adapter there?

Sorry I missed asking you that question before I said it was the speedo.
