to much black smoke??

i noticed today when i pulled out into traffic i had an excessive amount of black smoke. so i adjusted the mirror to watch the exhaust and with any little peddle pressing out comes the smoke. am i right to assume that black smoke equals un-burnt fuel? is their something i should look for? as a problem? i could always back of the fuel screw. i do have the star wheel all the way to the bottom, which i did to help off the line performance. i always have thought my truck wasn't very good performance wise. i can't even spin the tires!! what are your thoughts?

Where is the smoke screw set?

Bring the star wheel up until you notice the response suffer.

It should not smoke to bad with stock sticks. Follow me sometime if you want smoke. The smoke screw is where you said it was.

How dirty is your air filter? First thing i'd check if you are noticing more black smoke than normal.

your boost numbers seem low for your fuel screw turned in all the way. Look for an air way restriction or a boost leak.

i wonder if my exhaust is the problem? i saw my buddies 90 w350 which supposedly had a factory exhaust and it was huge compared to mine.
what is the factory exhaust supposed to be like on one of these things?

The factory exhaust is tight by the transfer case. Kinda smushed up. It should flow anything the 6x9 injectors can throw at it. The reason why most people change it is to lower egt's by increasing flow.

factory is 3" and there and sometimes the pipe gets pretty bent up around the rear axle.
