Question Black Smoke 2 Much??

I am a new member and owner and have recently put a superchip in my truck and have noticed that it shoots out a lot more black smoke in early rpms...do i need more air via diff type of filter or any other mod to help this or is this pretty normal? thanx

It's normal, it just means you are adding more fuel at a lower RPM......then once the turbo spools up it clears up the black because it's burning the fuel. I wouldn't worry about it, most guys here LIVE for smoke!!

I won't give an opnion on black smoke but it does look like you need some gauges (pyro, boost, etc) seeing as how you have a chip on your truck

Only whens a cop pulls you over and cites you cause ya stopped rush hour traffic in the middle of a 4 lane intersection and then follows you for a 1/2 mile and you dont notice him threw the smoke. But other wise not really.

How much smoke are you getting? The reason I ask is I have the Super Chips and I have to romp on it pretty good to get some smoke thats real noticeable

Just remember that Black smoke is UNBURNED FUEL! So you basically blowing money out the tail pipe...

But you might check your MAP / IAT sensor connections. While your there you might check the sensor to be sure they are not all gunked up...

The real answer is to build it for power. The more power products you put to it the more smoke the Cummins will make.

Injectors
Chip/Power Box
Cam
Timing
Turbo(s)

Just how far do you want to go...

Big injectors and a big laggy turbo. Problem is you can't control it when you want to. And if you don't want to control it in traffic .... please sell your truck and buy a 'coal train' , cause you run the risk of ruining it for the rest of us!
