codes,blue smoke/black smoke
hi all,
specs first:04.5 CTD 600 6sp 3500 SRW LWB 4x4,no engine mods nor any drivetrain mods.
problem #1::code P0483,no other codes present,any ideas what this is and is it critical to the truck .
problem #2:at cold or extended shutdown startup(more than an hour or two)the truck runs very rough and seems like it is missing,as well pushes a big cloud of blue smoke out the tail pipe for about thirty seconds or a minute or so than clears up but sends a thin cloud of black smoke after that under moderate to heavy throttle.the truck was serviced less than two thousand km's ago and has 31500km on it.
this truck is a daily driver and has only towed once in the year i've had it.the run to work is now 56km each way and the truck is not left idling for long periods of time.
does anyone know if either of these problems are critical or possibly related?i'am getting concered about driving it the way it is.thanks

P0483 Cooling Fan Speed
That code does not sound very serious, but deserves a dealer look and does not seem related to the smoke/idle issue.
The blue/white smoke on cold startups with rough idle was what mine started doing when I had a leaking injector. Dealer replaced #6 injector and smoke and rough idle on cold startups went away.
