more ve questions

i have to open my pump up tomarrow. and after rereading the how to install 3200 gsk i have a question on the foot he says everyone talks about grinding off,
what does it do when you grind off that foot?
is there any other thing i sould do when i'm in the pump to upgrade it some more?

The foot grind is a 1-way street. Put some thought into it before you start to grinding. Grinding the foot allows the governor lever to travel much further under no/low boost levels. Actually, it allows more travel all together, hence the 30-50 HP it's worth. The problem is, the grind nearly negates the function of the AFC, so fuel is not limited down low, which=smokey pig. If you do much towing at all, or are subject to any type of annual emmisions test, this is likely not the mod for you.

If you want to try it out, just remove your entire afc lever. Then you can reinstall if you wish.

I just did the 3200gsk last weekend and WOW! Its absolutely amazing what that little spring can do. When I was in the pump I was debating the foot also. What I did was grind just a little off. Maybe a 1/16th. Doesn't seem like much and I didnt think it would do much, but it did. I felt a huge difference in the way the truck performs. I'm having a hard time not grinding more off or just removing it. I just want use of the AFC. Anyways, sorry so long, just my $.02 worth. Good luck!

Removing the lever is only easy if you have the cover with screws sealing the pivot. The ***** or caps in most covers are a PITA and not designed to be reusable. If you grind, you can choose the shape and how much you grind, so as not to completely negate the existance of the AFC. We had a thread with a nice picture of the AFC lever and different profiles drawn on the foot, and now I can't find it! It woulda answered your questions. Anyone remember that from the way back machine?

i do a lot of towing so i guess this is not for me, but it would be interesting to know what the different grinds do to it.

The most dramatic gains are from running in the main fuel screw.

Be careful as you can quickly get into runaway territory.

you have to adjust the idle with the idle screw. Check out the sticky there is a diagram that shows the location of the idle screw.

I'd try lengthening the rod that connects the throttle bellcrank to the IP. It may save you from digging unnecessarily.
