More turbo questions.....

I just got a WH1C that has some compressor problems. I am going to put the exhaust housing on my rig. I though I read somewhere about drilling out the wastgate passage to a larger size. And drilling it through the divider too? I would like to do this before I put it on.

Also, am I missing something or where did the wastgate hose hook to?

One more thing is it possible to use the cast elbow and a second gen down pipe? I am willing to do some fab/welding?

Ok, so I have been reading and thinking. Is it a bad idea or not even possible to put a WH1C compressor housing on my H1C? I am looking to get rid of the ol' barky bark when I shift. I have heard you can cut your own slots.

The elbow and downpipe won't fit without expensive fabbing. Not worth the trouble, IMO. The compressor housing will fit your H1C. You'll have to swap the wheel as well. The threads are reverse and you'll need and in/lbs torque wrench that will read in reverse to do it right. Map slots will not cure bark. The slots cure the compressor surge that occurs when you're into the loud pedal at low RPMs.

2nd gens have a LOT more room behind the turbo for downpipes. Ours have to turn straight down, as 2nds go at an angle. Just wont work too nice.

G1625S- Isnt bark the same as surge?

Captain Chrysler- What issues are you having with your H1C? I have a couple housings and wheels if you need them. PM me for details.

Bark is a "woofwoofwoof" when you jump off the accelerator at high boost. Surge is a "chchchchchch" at moderate to high load at low RPM. They are similar in that the turbo is producing more pressure than the airflow through the turbo will support.

Well after I actually looked at my DP and a second gen one, I realized there was no way. I guess I will just have to wait for the 4", come on xmas bonus!!

I got the 12cmWG on and I am pleased, now I want the compressor upgrade.

Another thing I read on a few sites that a 1 ton has a larger compressor. I measured mine to see for sure and it has a 54mm wheel. I am fairly sure it is the factory turbo.
