Lucky number 5? This one is home...finally

Well my search is finally done. Its in my driveway, its in good condition-yeah its not what i originally wanted but its growing very quickly, and it was well taken care of. Its a 1991 d250 reg cab, non-IC'd 5 spd. Previous owner had a Detroit Locker installed(had slips) and wow do those rears dig!! Since Im new to these pumps, the pump has been tweaked(but im not sure yet, what) and it has an exhaust brake. 137k and it seriously runs great, ill never go back. This marks the start of my 4th year with no spark plugs, and my very first CTD.

Ok here is my starter questions...

1. Exhaust Brake. It has what looks like 2 vacuum lines coming off of it, I am only familiar with the Jacobs unit that has a toggle switch, and there was no doubt it was working, this one i have no idea about (ill get some pictures on here)

2. Pump tweaked. Since at this time its all foreign, i know its not stock...I know it doesnt gave a 3200 spring, and it doesnt smoke down low, like if you bog down a tad and flat foot it, it wont lay black...however after it starts to spool, then a small trail of black comes out, and your off. I want to atleast know what has already been done.

well im heading out. gonna service her all up, and see whats what. Maybe ill put my BHAF on(since ive had it without a truck for like 4 weeks)

Thanks guys, i finally joined the crowd

Yay! You are going to love the exhaust brake!

It sounds like the main fuel screw has been tweaked a little. The fact that it's clean down low means that the star wheel and smoke screw have been left alone.

Yeah, I am gonna pick up a pyro tomorrow. I just did my BHAF, and it sounds better but i need to get that crap exhaust off of it.

a few things i noticed thus far. was a Fram oil filter on it, after swap to a Fleetguard, I moved 1 whole notch on the factory guage after getting engine to temp.

a Baldwin fuel filter(replaced) was 1" longer than the Purolator that I installed.

Is there a good chance that this truck has a 21cm housing? I cant hear it spool much at all. Truck has good power, I know the exhaust hides a lot, but i cant hear anything. Build date 11/90. Also this turbo doesnt have a silencer ring, not even a place for one. Something Im missing here?

D**n do I love this truck so far!!!

All the non i/c trucks have the 18.5 cm. Stock 1st gen turbos are really quiet, you won't hear the turbo much at all.

AFAIK, there never was a silencer ring on the H1C, just on the HX35, etc.

The nice thing about the Jacobs is that it is a fail open (spring loaded) valve if something breaks. Most of the others use vacuum open and vacuum to close. Works real well as long as the little solenoid valve doesn't get any rust in it like my sons truck did. Bout drove me crazy till I pulled the solenoid off the frame and energized it. No clicky no worky.

This unit must be the vacuum open and vacuum closed, because i see the solenoid block and vacuum lines. If the solenoid is the problem, who makes a new one?
