It could be an aftermarket slider. I had an 88 W250 with a rear slider and it had a plastic latch.
My current 92 W250 has a metal latch, but it looks like an aftermarket slider, which I believe is a C.R. Laurence product.

I didn't know they ever had metal ones. My truck had a broken plastic one which I replaced with another plastic one from the "Help" section of AutoZone. Does anyone know of a source for the metal one?

Edwin

EDIT: AHA! I just read Diesel_Dawg's post above. I found this latch: http://www.crlaurence.com/crlapps/sh...lID=2719&pom=0

Well the tale unfolds on the brake light and ABS light being always on. Just popped open the MC for the first time since taking ownership. Funny thing, is it stops well, LOL! Gonna check a couple other items also besides flushing and refilling this out

My white crew cab has the metal latch and I believe it is an aftermarket rear window.

The ground wire you pictured is the radio ground that bolts to the back of the factory radio.

That is some gross looking brake fluid...at least the little bit you have...

Tequila, I stay away from the hard stuff and stick with beer. It just seems to work better for me.

Auggie you are correct on the late 91 not having a crack sensor. Most do not have it although I have seen it before on a 91 intercooled. If you don't see any wiring there I would bet it didn't come with one.

thanks for the responses, guys. That link for the steel rear slider window latch should be in the stickies. Another first gen I had back in 1998 didn't have one, as the chintzy plastic one tore off. Wish I would've known about the steel one. I may order a spare for just in case they go bye bye like all these first gen parts.

EDIT: AHA! I just read Diesel_Dawg's post above. I found this latch: DVL2 - CRL Replacement Metal Backslider Latch
Thanks for the link Edwin. I need one of those too.

Just some info, for those that messed with their star wheel back in the day, and either didn't take notes or just plain forgot like I did, I verified the factory starwheel setting on this stock 1991.5:

Turn the starwheel all the way down till it bottoms out, sharpie Mark a tooth on the starwheel, and turn back up 1.25 turns. That is the stock setting, at least on this particular pump.
That cavity that houses the power pin is bone dry. My 93 has traces of diesel fuel in the bottom. Looks like I'm gonna have to re seal it one of these days.

Just came in the mail, ready to reseal the VE

Well, just need to pick up a re seal kit, and tool wise, I should be ready. Found this kit on fleabay, sold by A.B.Tools Online. Not bad quality at just under $25.

Has four different sizes of sockets to access those triangular shaped bolt heads, and one to access an oval shaped socket. The two black sockets are 1/4" drive, the other three are 1/2" drive. Storage case is double wall quality.

Nice acquisition on those tools. I used a Gator Grip socket in a pinch on the triangle one, and it worked ok surprisingly.

Good work on your new truck so far.

Just got mine back from the BAR inspection. What a joke. DMV appt tomorrow.

Does it have 3.55 or 4:10? Power Lok rear?
