Lucky day today- picked up a low miler
My neighbor has had this 1991.5 Intercooled model, 4x4, single cab automatic transmission. He inherited it from his dad, and two years ago, I asked that when the day comes when he decides to sell it, give me first shot. Today, he went true to his word. Called me up, and he threw out a price, and didn't bother haggling with him. Sold!

Been soooo long since I drove a totally stock truck. This sucker is slow. The engine compartment is not clean, for sure, as the previous owner wasn't a first Gen fanatic like us, and that's okay.
Tomorrow, I'll look it over well. Only thing I haven't checked, is the functionality of the 4x4.
The good:
Immaculate body/ both bumpers not a ding
Low miles
No rust whatsoever
Brakes work great!
All interior window, door trim in pristine condition, except for one crack where the coat hanger clip is.
Awesome price!!
The bad:
Gas gauge no worky
Headlights so very dim
Brake light and ABS light always on
Headliner is just a piece of cardboard with torn headliner material still stuck to it
The 4x4 shift boot has a huge hole, and can see the road below....MARK!!
Diff covers smeared with gear oil. No biggie there.
Has the death wobble going on. No biggie on that, either.
Got a sneaking feeling, there's gonna be some fusible links to fix
Other than those items, it's in great shape.
I have the truck bought, but with the agreement that if I find anything majorly wrong with it, I can ask for the check back and refuse to buy it. The owner agreed, but gave me an extra day to look it over.
So, I'll be busy tomorrow, going thru this thing. Might get an oil sample sent off to black stone labs tomorrow, too.

Nice score! It looks like an awesome truck.
By the looks of it, it appears the outside was well maintained, probably washed and waxed a few times, but the maintenance, could've been better. It's the typical scenario of wanting to own a firstgen, but not bothering to learn about its maintenance to keep it going. Can't believe the p.o. Let it run around with the brake and abs lights on, the e-brake cable doesn't work, and a lot of other electrical stuff. On the outside, based on my pics, it looks like a great score, and it is and I'm great fun to have it, but there's gonna be a lot of work involved just to get it back to a decently maintained truck.
This one, I'm leaving bone stock. No VE tweaks, gauges, nothing. Maybe just a piston lift pump for better fuel flow, and an aftermarket air filter, but that's it.

Shoot! Forgot the engine bay. In the passenger wheel well, there's a empty tuna can of some sort, figuring he had rat poison. So, that tells me that rats were invading the thing, and the reasons for malfunctioning wiring.
I'll be examining the fusible links, all fuses, the 4x4 function, crank case vents, coolant leaks of any sort, ATF levels, and odors of the fluids. But first, that grill is coming off, and getting put on my truck. Definitely going to swap out a couple pieces here and there. I also lucked out that it's the same trim color package, that tan color. The powered side mirrors are also mint. May swap those out, also.
