low idle

low idle

Hey guys when my truck fires up it runs great but after i drive it up a hill and get it warmed up real good it starts idleng real low and dies if i stop in gear......someone told me to pour cold water over the ip so today i did i poured 2 salad bowls full of pool water over it and it idled fine after it had cooled.........'.is my pump going out.....what parts would cause this.....thanks for any info guys......

Sorry, but your pump is on its' way out. I drove mine like this for a little while until the pump started to leak pretty bad. Got the pump rebuilt and everything was hunky dory after that.

Yup... Oliver Butthead is right...

Same scenario here. Mine leaked shortly after the idle issue became evident.

Rebuilt it and not (knock on wood)

Ok what parts in the pump would cause this and where can i buy a rebuild kit for it......

Not sure what parts cause the idle to go low, but my guess would be clearances between the case and the rotating assembly. The clearances are opening up when it gets hot, and the fuel pressure(?) is not being generated? Purely speculation on my part.

There is no "rebuild" kit available, only a reseal kit - Bosch DGK-121. But for the $25 for a re-seal kit, I would give that a try first to see if it perhaps helps.
