low fuel level light?
Does my truck have a low fuel level light? I don't have a service or owners manual. It's a 1993 LE pretty much loaded .I've had the truck about a year, but have never ran it that low on fuel .Just curious,no LFL light comes on when I turn the ignition switch on.Thanks Bob
Do you know what your mpg is?
If you do and if it's fairly consistent what I would is fill it up as full as you can and drive it until you should have only about 4-5 gallons left. If it hasn't come on, it's not working. Reason I say to do it this way is because the gauge is so unreliable. Sometimes my fuel light goes on at quarter tank, sometimes it sits on empty for 20-30 miles before it goes on. Thing is, the fuel light on my truck flashes on and off when there is about 7 gal. left and stays on when there is 5-6. It's like clockwork. I don't even use the fuel gauge anymore. I mostly go by the trip odometer (I zero it every tank) and fuel light. fuel gauge is a liar most days.
Our trucks have 30 gal tanks, I've ran my down to where I had less than 2 gallons left. She took a bit over 28 gallons to fill. Oh and I've done it more than once. I don't suggest going that far though.
unless you feel like getting stranded somewhere and need to prime the system to get going again. Fortunately, I've escaped having to do that so far
