lost on how to make the dang cruise control work..

so some might have seen.. but i swapped the 518 for a getrag.
all is good now, except for the cruise.
i got the clutch interlock switch hooked up, and the neutral safety switch wire grounded to the frame.

truck starts with the clutch pedal depressed like it should. no cruise.
tried disconnecting the neutral safety wire on the frame and truck will not start.
so that said im kinda lost.
i would love this to work like it would from the factory if possible..

The cruise system shouldn't have anything to do with the transmission safety system. But then the PCm these later trucks run I might be wrong.

If it was the pre-89 system then I'd be more help.

If you wouldn't mind filling out your signature so we all know what you have. Helps with the diagnosis...

Think there is a wiring PDF in the stickey somewhere.

The netural safety wire can not be grounded all the time. It needs to be grounded to start. Then it needs to be an open circuit. The starter relay has a wire from the netural circuit to the PCM.

You need to install the pedal safety switch or use a toggle switch or rig a relay to controll the netural circuit. Removing pin #30 from the PCM plug is the other way.

Then the pedal switch is not working right.

You could just clip the neutral switch wire going to the PCM.
It's brown with a yellow stripe, goes to pin 30 in the connector.

Yes, I've done the swap before and I think this is the key. The starter relay needs to see the ground, but the PCM needs to see no ground, or it thinks the truck is in neutral all the time. Leaving it grounded but removing the wire from the PCM was probably the way I did it too.
