Dang, lost the tranny today...

Well, the trannys been slippin for awhile now, then today it was acting real weird shifting. Get in to go get my daughter and put it in reverse; no go. I figured (was really HOPING) I was on ice. Got it going and was just taching out and not catchin a gear. Had to limp it home on the interstate and down main street...What a bummer, but Ive know since day one it would happen sooner or later. Now I gotta price out trans and decide how far I want to go. Actually, I gotta figure out how Im gonna pay for the dang thing

Anybody know how much a dealer rebuild runs? And will they use aftermarket parts in a rebuild? How bout rebuilding it myself?

Call Gorend Bros, he'll (Dave) let you know what you need either if you do it, he does it or someone else does it.

I think he's modded and wants a matching transmission.... I can make mine slip and I'm stock, maybe it's my converter though.

Smarty on #9 is not what Dodge engineers designed the tranny to hold up to.

I got ya, Im don't have too much knowledge on all the aftermarket power adders, But I do hae a question. I was thinking for my next truck, to get a 2500 Mega Cab and maybe instead of getting 3.73's in it, I was thinking of going with the 4.10's, and maybe a 315 or 35" tire. Truck will be pretty much stock, would I have anything to worry about with the trans with this combo?

I have been reading alot of trans problem threads lately, and I would hate for something like this to happen!!

I had Dave's guys build my 48RE. It runs better now than it did the day I drove it off the lot. Plus Dave gave my 100k warrenty to go along with it. I gross 26k about 4 days a week and it runs like a dream now Dave don't mind working with you on getting it paid for either just talk to him and work something out cause what Dave tells you is his word and you can take that to the bank. If you need his phone # just msg me for it. Dont think they like those in the posts.

The tire/gearing combo you mention is perfect. Basically the same as 265's w/ 3.73's.

As far as getting a 2500 Mega, go with the 3500. If you ever want to haul a 5th wheel it won't take much to go over your gvwr.

My 3500 rides about the same as my 2500 did. The only difference is when the overloads slap the stops on big hits, but that doesn't happen too often.

Bob and the website are pretty explicit on what a stock engine/transmission can handle. Like stated above do it right the first time, because if you just half bake it, SW#9 can still nuke it.

Yea, yesterday I kinda was-had a red Dmax ridin my a......rear which got old quick. So yea I gave it hell but didnt go anywhere fast.

I definately plan to do it right...Billet input, intermediate, all that good stuff. Been lookin at Goerend, also gonna hit up the others and see whos got what I need at a decent price. Been thinkin of NADP alot lately. I figure if their trannys are in 10second trucks, they obviously know how to build a trans. I did call them a year ago and they had a good price. Havent ever talked to other companies, but Ill be callin all of them next week.
