"just Not My Day!!!"

I was on my way into Walmart to buy a new pair of sunglasses because mine broke. As I was pulling in to the front door area to drop off the girlfriend at the doors (because it was raining) and park the truck.....I heard a "bang" under the hood and a belt started to squeel. Shut the truck off and opened the hood to find the waterpump pully broke off and was laying on the lower rad cradle. So I went inside to the parts counter to see if they had a waterpump... Which I could almost guarantee they wouldn't. They didn't so I came out to find an $85.oo parking ticket.

I'm sorry about the wp but the rest they'll have to eat it. If the truck broke down in that spot and it is raining there is nothing You can do about it but call a tow truck.

Some times if you go talk to the issuing agency they will drop the ticket after they find out why the truck was parked where it was. I know it is a problem but the time spent may be cheaper.

Ugh. On the bright side the water pump is easy to change - only 2 bolts, and they don't hold anything else on.

You're right... It was easy to change. It took me longer to find it and buy it. Being a Canadian holiday weekend, most everyone were closed. The Canadian Tire store here didn't have it but would order in two days and they wanted $88 reman and $96 for new. I had to go to Detroit from Canada and buy it. Declare it at the border, pay the duties, taxes, tolls. The was only one of the Murray's Discount Auto stores that had it and it was a reman. One Advance Auto had both new and reman and I just happen to pass an Auto Zone that had one in stock for $48 new. I also bought a new belt but whe I tried to put it on.... They gave me the wrong one. I had to reinstall the old one.
I changed it but noticed in the process I also need a new belt tensioner. It's worn out and no where near proper alignment. So I may end up going back to Detroit after all. I'll get the new tensioner and exchange the belt.
The nice part about everything is that they are going to cancel the parking ticket with the proof of the breakdown and "I HAVE MY TRUCK UP AND RUNNING AGAIN" Yehaaaaaawwww.
Which is good because I just bought a 5th wheel camper the day before.

Everything is stock. I just turned 295,000 km's. It's not a huge trailer. It's only a 24ft'r.
I've serviced the tranny and I use synthetics. I do oil changes EVERY 5000.
I just bought $1000 worth of front end parts to put on. I just did complete exhaust last month. Brakes were done last year .
I bought it 6 years ago with 207,000.... So I figure if spend maybe $2000 and I got 6 years and 90,000km's.... I'm doing great. I haul and pull ALOT of stuff with this and believe me............It doesn't owe me a dime.
Think about it... 6 years for $2000 and 90,000. A little over $300/15,000km's/year.
Yeah...the rockers are rotting and The floor is starting to get bad but what can you expect for a 16 year old truck that has never had a paint job.
These ol' 1st gens will be around for lonnnggg time. You can't say that about those older 6.2 Chevs and we already know the failure rates of the PowerJOKE Fords.

I know.... I was just counting the maintainence costs. You really can't count purchase prices because everyone here has paid different amounts on their trucks... but you're right.

I looked quick before i had to go to work. It looked like the belt tensioner was part of the lower radiator hose housing at the block. Are the separate pieces?

Well thingz have been "duin just GREAT" lately. Got the truck almost back to where it was when I bought it and better. This week, I replaced the ball joints, idler arm, drag link, coil springs, front and rear shocks, trailer brake controller, trailer plug. I did some wiring. The new brake booster I ordered comes in today. It's at the alignment and spring shop as I type this. I had a broken leaf on the helper springs. Installed the borgenson shaft. Did the oil change and service. Replaced the front brakes and caliper hardware (no more annoying caliper rattle over bumps). All I have now is the lower rockers and a hole in drivers floor to replace... some paint and It's back to "NEW". The new coils springs raised the front end 4.5 inches back to where it looks level and this truck has NEVER steered this well. I really forgot about how much I really enjoyed driving my 1st gen CTD. I bought a 24' 5th wheel trailer on the weekend and gonna head to New Hamburg Ontario for MOPARFEST this weekend. There's about 1500 MOPAR products every year and gettin bigger. http://www.moparfest.com
I just picked up a '69 440 and a buddy here at work has to get rid of his stored '69 340. Now I gotta go through the swap meet there and find a good project car to put one of the engines into. hehehehehehe......
