Just A Great Day---"not"

Started work at 3:30AM wonderful -20C Sat morning, pulled a very busy 11 hour shift, looking forward to coming home to relax-------BUT thanks to the who sometime this morning between the time i got to work until around 6:00AM when other worker arrive decided to kick in the back slider window on my 3 month old MEGA."THANKYOU"----hope you like the $10.00 Home Depot special safety sunglasses you swiped and were a bit disapointed that i don't carry anything valuable in my vehicles.I doubt that someone like yourself would ever toll this or any other vehicle forum cause then maybe you would have to "work/earn your way though life to greatly appreciate the fruits of your labour and have something as nice as the this fine vehicleto show for it.----No biggy, just out the glasses and a repair bill for the middle section of the slider----any member suggest a good glass shop and can i only replace the middle section or am i going to get screw twice in one week and have to spring for the whole new window.DW

Grrrrr.....this idiot worked on the same job site as you?.....Dam I would be mad...I know how you feel. When I had my '89 GMC(totally restored) the punks in my area decided to try and steal it...They did so much damage to the door and steering costed $1800 damage.Stupid insurance threated me with big insuranse increase if I claimed(the insurance company was crooks themselfs). So I paid out of pocket.I put the club on the truck after the repair. After a month the punks knew they would have problems stealing the truck, they ran a nail across the whole side of the truck.I fixed that damage myself.Destroyed my back yard by parking the truck there...just to get it of the street..I hope you could replace just the glass without having to replace the whole window...The company I would try is Dynasty Glass...Ask for Darcy. He is the guy I deal with when I have to get glass for my collector cars...

I'm going to phone on Monday, cause our agent/broker is a family friend for 30+ years and see what he says, probable be 500.00+ for a whole new one so we will see.Only one claim in 20 years and that was for vandalism on my wife"s Trailblazer---they decided to drag a key down the side of it only being a month old---3500.00 to repaint.Just got off the phone with the "old man" up in Northern Alberta,he's old school----wanted to know if i caught the SOB,don't get the cops involved---to much paperwork---nothing what a couple of "BUSTED KNEE"S wont fix if he ever decided to try that again. POP'S-----he makes me laugh every time i talk to him,1/2 dozen guns laying around the house at any given time and he never scared to use them.DW

Wow that sucks, I had someone steal all my tools out of my Bronco once, 1500 bucks worth... They kicked in the back window on it when I had to leave it over night in a field cause it was burried up to the headlights.
Hope you have luck with the window search.

Sucks to hear that it is getting way to bad. An idea for you if you know of anyone coming to Edmonton, I don't know if the window changed or how hard they are to remove, but I want to get rid of the slider in my 04 if it would work? It's just to pricy to tint vs a regular one, because they charge for 3 windows.

I feel for ya, and its this town we live in.
I don't park downtown Calgary for overnights or in any of the C trains parking lots. Last year I had my truck broke into about 5 times, back into, hit and dented. I stopped call my insurance broker as they starting to wanted more monthly money. I'm lucky as my rear slider just moves easily so they don't kick in the rear window. I've replaced my rear window about 3 to 4 times. I've used Airdrie Glass here in town. You should put in a rear tinted power window now. I had someone living in my truck over night my last time in Victoria, BC. Came back, my door and my floor was covered in ash and cigarette butts. Blood spattered all over the seat and dash. The cops, didn't even take a report, just as waste of time anyways. Last year my house got broken into. They just took a computer and my kids Xbox and all of his games. I'm a nice guy, but it makes you want to shoot someone.

Talked to the owner/boss---- says camera"s are going up soon cause of too much theft/vandals.Our company vehicles get hit about 3 times a year, not much in them cause i empty it at the end of the day.Nothing really to steal unless you need a wheeler/and some empty juice boxes.Gas card stays in my wallet, but i do notice is that some have tried/rummage though my oil/washer fluid/spare bulbs etc.I'm just hoping that i get just get the middle section to replace----time to go get the shop vac and start cleaning up this mess.----Later David W.

Pretty common thing to get stolen,i will be putting a tonnue cover on in the fall to hopefully prevent this from happening to me------All cleaned up---1 hour with the shop vac, pulled everything apart(amazing where the glass flies/ends up)buffed every thing plus a piece of cardboard in the window until it gets fixed.THANKS guys for the suggestion, off the CANNUK TIRE for a locking gas cap and a few other things.DW

A couple of years ago some loser smashed out one of the center pieces of the rear slider on my 2nd gen. I was reluctant to install a complete aftermarket slider because I've seen quality concerns on those (leaks & rattles). I found that Dodge sells replacement glass for the center only on these trucks. Keep in mind that this was a 96 truck, and it may be different on newer stuff, but it may be the cheapest and best quality way to go.

some of the older trucks had a problem with the windows exploding all on their own, the ones either side of the slider. I jnow the dealer price on the rear window was around $750+ install, on the 03's it was the whole unit. No tjust the slider part. Good luck,
