interior help
i got a few things inside my cab that needs fixin.
my horn needs either new insides or i need to fix what i got. if you've ever cracked yours open you'll see there's a flatish peice of metal with a wire goin to it, a piece of foam, and then another flatish peice of metal with a wire. when you hit your horn the metals touch and connected the circuit and it goes beep beep. i have had some problems where it seem slike those metals are always touching. do i just need new foam, or is it somethin else? would you just buy a new one or try findin some new foam for it?
and my second question is on the cab light switches for the door jam, how do i fix that crap? you cant see in there to reconnect the wire to the switch, or even see whats goin on. i really want that stuff to work for me. id LOVE some help and advise guys. thanks

The "cab switches" in the doorjam that activate the dome light when you open the door?
Those are just a 7/16 Deep socket i believe. it unscrews right out of the cab then you can unhook the wire and replace the switch or whatever. it's just a little thingy that gets pushed in when you shut the door which turns the dome light out

Ya thats it. Idk how to get in there and get the wire because i know it got unhooked on the passenger side somehow and i dont have a clue as to how to get the wire to a point where i CAn hook it back up. Im pretty sure the swith is still fine.

The switch gets removed from the outside, it has a nut made onto it. Once you remove the switch if the wire fell off and went back down that little hole.....then you have to remove the kickpanel to get it back up through. or get lucky and use small but long needle nose pliers like i did because lucky it didn't go far down in
On the horn pad problem what about trying to build it back up with some of that expanding foam you can get for house's. I think it's called great stuff at you local home depot type of store. I've used that suff for things like that, but never for what your trying to do. It holds up good over time. But it's just an Idea, don't shoot me if it don't work...LOL

I dont think anything is broke or bent thankfully. Haha it'd be my luck i completley ruin my horn lol i' gonna keep my eyez open for some new foam. If not...junk yard time or i may have to fork out some dough for a new part lol
when you're drivin a 4-ton rig you NEED a horn to wake up dozing commuters who wander into yer path
my horn didn't work either; steering wheel was all crapped out..had to buy a new CLOCKSPRING for the column and then decided to buy a new wheel...got a Grant 18", but it's very flat
farg it, the work on these old warhorses never stops!
now my instrument ground has gone bad, needles swingin all over the place
just when I'm ready to bag it, the next turn of the ignition key puts a big smile on my face when that CTD roars to life in a half-rev

The best thing I did for my horn was to forget the steering-wheel button and wire it through one of those generic horn-buttons.
The next best thing was to swipe the tremendously loud horns out of a Pontiac Lemans that was headed to the crushers.
Of course, that was all before the air-horns.
