Installing water/meth tomorrow...
I got a deal from a buddy that I couldn't pass up for a complete setup. It's a Snow Performance 2 stage kit with a variable controller for only $150!!
Can't wait to put it in tomorrow.
I got the kit with the controller that has 2 stages that is boost controlled. How is this different than the hobbs kit? Is the hobbs kit just a switch that starts the pump and injection without any different stages?
Is there anyway to tell if I have the stock pump or the 220 pump? Are the stock nozzles that come with the kit working well for everyone here? It came off a VP44 pumped 24 valve with some decent mods to it, so I think it should flow enough...
I got a little resevoir that was used for the water/meth. Its about 1/2 the size of the stock windshield washer fluid resevoir, so it is small. I would like to use that for the water/meth but I also want to be able to clean my windshield. Would it be safe to use water in the windshield bottle and methanol in the other one and use a T fitting from both into the pump? That should give me a perfect 50/50 mix, a good capacity and still retain my windshield washer usage. Or is methanol too dangerous to sit there near the hot turbo? Just thinking out loud.
As for settings, from what I have read it seems like a good starting point is to have the first stage come on at 20 PSI and the second at 30-35 PSI? Snow also recomended something along those lines as a starting point in their instructions. What are you guys running?
Thanks for any info. I can't wait to put this thing in and try to bog the motor and tune it. If I can think of anymore stuff, I'll post up.
Edit: I was able to take the nozzles off by hand. What is the best way to re-seal/lock these to make sure they won't come off? Teflon tape, red loctite?

I have my set up coming on at 15 psi, and maxed out at 30 psi.
I just washer fluid for my mix, Nothing over 50-50 will help, so stick with the small bottle, and you will be fine.
Tips, see what ones they are, cooling mist suggested the 325+625 mltrpm tips for my truck, I went with two 625 tips, and am barely able to put out the fire with the pump turned up. Tips marked with blue paint.
Metal part of pump, 4 to 5",=150 pump
over 5"=220 pump, I am running a 150 pump, and just barely is able to do it's job.
Plastic end of pump, there is a really small allen key screw in there, Turn in torward pump = more pressure, back off/out, less pressure.
Have fun with the install and tuning, And let us kknow if you get valve clatter at full boost with the go juice kicking! ! !

It's definitely not safe to have a tank of 100% methanol in the engine compartment (and probably not safe anywhere on the truck!).
Also, water and meth don't have the same consistency so you will not get an accurate 50/50 mix if just using a "T". You could get more than 50% meth and that wouldn't be a good thing.

I am running a Stage 2 with a Stage 3 controller. I have an 8 Gallon tank in the bed. I run 50/50 on the dyno and 30/70 (70% water) for towing. The Stage 3 controller is an in cab on the fly adjustable feature. I Run a .375 and a .625 nozzle. The only adjustment on the controller is % of gain. Boost and EGT's are factory set - Boost is set to come on at 20psi. The controller is designed to provide W/M while towing and EGT's are getting high - usually on a long uphill pull. I bought some dyno time to set it up and saw 100 RWHP increase with Gain set at 100%.
Thanks for the info!
I knew my idea of 2 bottles probably wasn't a good one. Pretty sure I was still in a turkey/gravy food coma when writing that
.
The metal part on my pump is about 5.25" long, so I'm guessing I have the 220 pump. As for the nozzles, I can't see anything written on the nozzles saying what size they are. I can only see some writing on the bodies that they are threaded into.

A lot of the 2nd gen guys use the WW bottle for the reservoir and just run WW fluid in the engine. The cheap blue stuff is around 20% meth. There's nothing wrong with a two bottle system provided both bottles are mix. Loch has a upper tank, and then a lower tank behind the bumper IIRC.
They are probably .625 nozzles. According to Snow both together would be too much and probably cause quench. With my pump at 150 psi, a .625 and .375 nozzle and the Stage 3 controler set at 100% she roars like a tiger with no quench.
You can probably buy a .375 nozzle from Snow and get a good setup.

I got this in and finally got to test it out last night. All I have is just some 80% water/20% meth WW fluid since I haven't sourced any methanol to mix my own. I can't wait to get some 50/50 I can really feel more of a difference. I still need to keep tuning, too, since I haven't gotten the combustion to quench from too much water. I'll also have to look into what nozzles I have in there.
I'm amazed at how much this helps EGTs. I've got the first stage to come on at 20PSI and the second at 30ish. On this test strip I have hear my house (a long strip that is a small grade) I can pull 25PSI in O/D up the grade with water/meth and the EGTs willlevel off at 900*pre turbo
. Doing the same without water/meth and I'm easily over 1000*. Its also a lot easier to control EGTs on WOT runs with the water/meth on, since it doesn't wrap around nearly as fast! This is an awesome upgrade.

LOL, I was just reading your posts about that in another thread! I checked into that, but there are no advance auto parts around here... I don't think there are any in california according to their site.
