injector honing quesiton

so basically it goes like this, i got new injectors, stock 1989 injectors with 70k on em. i found a place in PA in pittsburgh who will do them for 37 dollars a tip. that comes out to 222 for all 6. what i will gain is a 31-40% increase in flow, which will give me 50-60 more horse. that is what i was told.

i need to know 2 things

does this seem like a legitamate deal for the gains?

also they told me i need to send them the tips and needles so it there a way i can take them apart or does someone special have to do it?

i would give coaltrain a call and see if they can help you out. They seemed like the kind of guys that would be willing to do something like that. Let me know if you need their number.

Nick, i thought i had the number in my phone but i don't. They do have a website although it does not come up with google for some reason. Brandon (crossy's son) made a post with a link to there website on here. if you search you should be able to find it.

Coaltrain Diesel

I checked out their site about a week ago and they really do have good prices on the 5 hole injectors they offer for the 1st GEN crowd. If you're not looking to get a custom injector made then going this route is about the most reasonably priced deal. I do know DDP injectors are more expensive, but they are more efficient with considerable power gains.

I'm pretty sure the 435 injectors (5x14) are the biggest NON custom 1st gen injectors you can buy.

as long as the 5x.12s are flow tested correctly they will be fine. the quality of the injector will make an a difference in how clean they run along with your truck's set-up.

what are your goals for the truck? that is what you really got to ask your self. are you just looking to make a little more power and keep milage? looking for a injector to make big power? Everything is a compromise so just figure out what your really want out of the truck.

Get injectors that will fill your needs the first time.

so zach over the weekend i finally ahve come to a conclusion on what want for my truck. i drive it ALOT so iwan an inkector that will give me good power but keep the mileage. im also starting a 518 build for the overdrive benefit.

but basically i want decent power so that i can hold my own against the second and third gens around here. oh and the powerstrokes. i dont want to be the fastest truck on the street (one day when i get a new truck this one will be hopefully) but when i play i would like to hold my own

You can get good fuel mileage with a set of 6X.18's, the right foot is the biggest factor in mileage.

The being said, I don't think you could go wrong with a set of 370's. They are capable of over 400rwhp, and won't hurt the wallet to bad.

I see you have an HX35 on your truck. I know a guy with the 60mm comp. wheel upgrade on his H1C with 370's and says it gets pretty toasty over 3K RPM. You may want to think of getting a better turbo as well.
