Honing injectors

I'm wondering how much more power(fuel) is to be had by honing pod's? As I've stated elsewhere, smoke doesn't bother me, and the HTTB2 should be good for burning a bit more fuel. It seems that honing would be a cheap alternative to shelling out big bucks for new injectors. Thoughts?

I'm guessing they could be honed out, but other probs will come into play. By enlarging the bore it will let more fuel thru but fail to atomize it as well, that means drastic smoke, not much more power, lower fuel milage not to mention egt's thru the roof that your turbo cant help cool off. More fuel is only advantagous if its in vapor form, just squiting liquid in wont get you the HP the same amount of vapor will. As a rule EDM'S are the way to go, they atomize a lot better.

O.K., makes sense. I'm guessing that pushing a fairly large amount of fuel through 4 holes is the reason POD's smoke more than a lot of the others. Thanks, Jer

Old Smokey made 600+ with a set of honed POD's. I wouldn't hone used tips. They have a tendency to fail/break. Best bet is to sell your old POD's and put that money towards something new.

Mine only have a few hundred miles on 'em right now. Doable? If not, what's a good 400 or so horse injector that won't break the bank? Or does such a creature exist?

I would ask the shop doing the hone job if that low mileage would be ok.

www.scheiddiesel.com will make some hot EDM's for you at a cheaper rate than most 'hot' injectors I've seen advertised online.
