Thumbs up IF You Had 2 Do Over What Year Would U Pick??

Well in a while Ill have my 2002 paid off and tho very very tempting Im holding out on any major mods. It my backbone and I like it that way. Im going to buy another cummins, any suggestions for a perfect year to start with. I want alot of power, a standard tran,(cluch upgrade pending....lol),4x4,standard cab,3/4 ton, undecided on bed length ,a lot of whisle and a lot of smoke. 12 valve would be my pick ....no electronics...just little secret screws to turn.As soon a I get one Ill turn the "smoke" screw up and run a tank of fuel threw her just to make up for all the times Ive wished my 02 would smoke What ya think,What would U do.

Well, if your options also include a 2nd gen 12 valve. Go straight for the 98 12v. It has the 24v interior but has the 215hp 913 P7100 injection pump. The best there is. Bigger plunger and barrel assembly than the previous years.

If a first gen is more of your cup of tea. I like the 93's best with the 5spd.

Why the 93 ? Im really not interested in the 98 Ive had a 98 gasser so I dont want another truck the same. The diffrent interior would be better 2 if I bought another truck with the same interior as my 02 I'd all the time be picking things out that aint right.

the 96 to 98 12 valve 5 speed [215hp trucks] have the 887 and 913 inj. pump, the best hands down for making big power. but if you just want 400 or so hp and some smoke any 94 to 98 will do.

Get an intercooled 1st gen, '91.5 -'93. You don't get a choice on bed length on 1st gens, it's long bed and like it. Check the "Tech Facts" section for how easy it is to tweak the pump on these oldies- you'll get 'er smoking like a freight train in no time, swap an HX-35 on for whistle.

Man, I'd pick 1975. I was still single, had a sports car, motorcycle, sailboat......Oh....you mean TRUCK. I'm pretty happy with my '99.

Sounds like you still have some of that old "stuff" left over from 1975. You know it's illegal these days, right?

Do over? Hmm...Maybe I would have held out for a '93 painted in that nice copper and metallic sand two tone Dodge offered. But I don't know - I've really gotten to like my truck as it is.

'93 and '92 aren't really any different, same style and options. A '93 will run a little better stock than a '92 because the '92 has the bog monster 21 cm turbine housing. My truck had a '92 motor put in it at some point, that 21 cm housing wouldn't start spooling until halfway up 4th gear. That's an easy fix though. If you see one of either year that you like at a price you're willing to pay, go for it.

first gen all the way if you have to do your own work. one can always put 2nd gen engine in one, get all the power and a whole lot easier to work on. only down side i see is the harsh ride
