Exclamation Idle too fast

Just replaced the pump and injectors, but the idle is too fast. I have the idle screw backed out flush and have ground down the idle stop where it was hitting the pump body by the idle screw, but I'm as far as I can go.

Should I back out the power screw?

Should I change the clocking on the throttle shaft one notch?

Thanks!

Mark

Backed out the power screw and lost all my power, so I re-clocked the pump shaft by one notch and put the power screq all the way back in. That fixed it!

I think I have the timing close, but it's loading up a bit at idle.

My boost it still 30 PSI, but I get more boost sooner with all of the pump tweaks.

The POD's smoke less that my BD injectors, which is a suprise, but it could be because I'm building boost so much quicker.

Any thoughts?

What do you mean by "loading up"? If you mean it's putting out a light haze at idle, yep, the POD's do that.

I guess it's OK then. Does yours really smoke at idle when it's cold?

The good news is that with it running so rich at idle I found the exhaust to turbo gasket was leaking. Black goo oozing out!

Yes, POD's will haze at idle. Nature of the beast I guess. Watch out for your PYRO gauge as mine has sometimes stopped working due to the extra soot. I will see it only go up to 400 degrees and just stay there. I either deal with it till I shut it off for the night (seems to work next day) or I get on the highway and really open it up and that clears it back to normal. But I also now for a fact, WOT only gets me to 1100 degrees so I know I am always safe.

thanks!
Can I ask you about your PDR CAM? Is it higher lift/longer duration, or what? Did it make a big difference?

Not really sure on that one. I purchased a motor from Nascar Mark (Mark works at PDR) and it was in there when I got the motor. Went from 215 rwhp to 308 rwhp due to his modified motor. It does allow the boost and power to come on at a lower rpm then my stock motor. Not sure what cam he also used as he tried 3 different ones before settling with this one. He used this motor as a test bed for building cams at PDR. Motor still running SUPER after 40,000 miles on it though. Can't complain at all when dealing with PDR.

Really glad to hear that! I'll ask Nascar Mark which cam that is. My truck is so different now that I am still trying to figure out how to drive it. It's got so much more low end.

I agree with learning to drive it all over again. I seem to keep losing tread on my rear tires on my truck. Must be something to do with my heavy right foot. Wife says to take off my boots and that might help , somehow though I don't think so.

I've been getting a ration about the tires also. Finally went to BFG KO's which last the longest of any I have tried.
