I run the standard 6 blade HX40. Is it a good cheap turbo. I would probably not buy one new, but I came accross this one cheap. The spool is a little laggy, but plenty tolerable. Works very well for towing, egts are much better than the 60mm H1C. Mine has the common 16cm T3 housing.

The super 40 is supposed to have an improved turbine wheel for better spool.

As long as it is a T3 it should bolt onto the manifold. If your truck is IC, it should be a straight forward swap. There is a 4" DP required though.

I think holding out until you can find the 7 blade turbo is a good idea.

I'll quote Philip because he has 1st hand experience with them.

Don't waste you time on a 6 or 8 blade HX40.

The Super 40 I have spools just as easy as the HX35 it replaced. Both had 16cm housing on them.
