Hp vs lp piston pump

I've been searching around and have been seeing people say that the lp piston pump is good for about 400 hp before it pulls to 0 psi. I was wondering... if I ran a 2nd gen hp pump and regulate it what kind of power would it be good for and what kind of pressure it would be delivering at around 400 hp? It's just what I'm shooting for and don't want to run the injection pump dry.

Regulate it to 15psi and it will not let it get above that.

For what it is worth, RonA had a p-pumped 12v in his 1st Gen. Made 1218hp with just that little lift pump.

I know it won't go any higher than what i regulate it to. What i was getting at is if it's going to pull it down like it would the low pressure pump?

I'm pretty sure that it can handle 400. And, I'm pretty sure Ron would have fried his injection pump if he would have forgot to turn on his lift pump at the dragstrip.

Possibly, but it made a number of drag strip passes at over 700hp with just the 12 valve pump.

the second gen pump will supply all the fuel the little VE (unless we're talkng 14mm H&R) can push. I push LOTS of fuel and it doesn't pull mine down at all.

Just remember that a P-Pump has separate lubrication as opposed to the VE which is lubed by the fuel. Running at 0 psi will starve the VE ans cause it to fail. I have a piston lift pump and an electric pusher and still get down to 1 or 2 PSI on a run.
