Egt too low?

Hi guys, I'm concerned that something is not right with my egt temps. I got a 93 12v with bd 40hp sticks, 12cm turbo with upgraded impellers and horn, (30psi)fuel screw turned into the collar and 3200rpm spring. Timing is advanced 1/8th inch and running thinest injector washers. Truck goes like a bat out of h*ll. but wot only gets me 850 on pyro, maybe 950 if I'm pulling. (post turbo) that seems offly low.
Should I trust it?

Appreciate any input.

What make pyrometer do you have?

Manual or auto trans?
If auto what does it read when you power brake it?

The probe is after the exhaust, post turbo right? Add 300f to your readings to get a more accurate temp. 950+300=1250f, your egt's are normal.

I have read that 900* post turbo is the most you want to see.

It's an autometer gauge, and I did buy a new probe, didn't change anything. Power braking gets about 700. The reason I'm concerned is most of you guys hit 14-1500 degreese when you punch it, granted I don't know what injectors their running. Could it have to much timing, 1/8th inch plus thin washer?
46rh non lock up auto, it does have a performance low stall TC

Yea, I'd say you are right in the zone. No worries.

So maybe you need to add more fuel to reach your desired 1400 to 1500 deg(1100 - 1200 deg post turbo). 1100-1200 post turbo should be considered a bad thing, not a goal, but that's just me.

I understand what you're asking now. The non lock up converter wont put as much load on the engine as a manual would. The same set up with a getrag will hit 1400-1500. I had the same set up minus the 12cm housing. If your truck is fast and all you can hit is 1200 you have a pretty good set up.
