Hey guys did u get full or diesel bull and turkey? I would love to have came and shot the bull. But I stayed home and busted some powerstrokes maybe some one will have one next year. How many bombs were droped? and on who's rides were thay droped on? Hope every one had a good old time.

 

I changed the oil today, does that count?

 

I added some beef to my tranny mounts untill I can get the poly ones. I thinned out the existing rubber and added big 'ole washers of the same thickness as the material I removed so as not to change the driveshaft angle. Quite a difference in the way the truck shifts. I can row through the gears far more quicky. Of course, the mirrors are just a blur under 1000 rpms thanks to the pseudo-solid mounts. It's really amazing how much torque those old rubber bushings can soak up when they're tired out--and they make the drivetrain feel sloppier than it really is...Oh yeah, and I hoed all the trash out of the interior...only 11 coffee cups....

 

Hey G1625s your old 89 is the first I've ever seen with a factorie 5speed an 4wheel drive. All I ever saw were 4x4 autos how did you pull that off? My friend here in kentucky tried to get a new 4x4 5speed in 89 and there were non to be found. He ended up with a 350 5speed 2wd Its the first cummins power dodge I ever rode in I was hooked from that day I was seven years old. When I turned 16 I bought my 91 non intercooled Its all most the same truck has the old 89. All I'm missing is the red inter. As for me I found a good set of 2nd gen seats for my beast . Did u get your 89 new?

 

From the paperwork I've been able to dig up, I'm the third owner of the truck. It spent most of its life in the suburbs of New York City. The guy I bought it from had if for 5 years--he's big into old Jaguars and used the truck once a month or so to make a run for a car/parts etc. The VIN comes back as exactly what the truck is...'89 diesel etc etc. Can't remember if it specified 5 speed, though I think it did.

Wanna and I had Pig not Turkey (KILLER RIBS)...

And we got to talk about all kinds of stuff...including Diesels.

Ggg made it up in his low-flyin',cool lookin', Ferd Diesel just in time to watch Wanna put my pump back together...he stuck around for a while,but had to take off before "Rib time".

All in all "Tons 'O' Fun" was had by all...I think...except for the flyin' glass of course.

Vinny how do u like your new spring? It should have made a big differents did u put on a piston lift pump? I love making HP

 

Actually, my truck is slower...

And although it's pretty much agreed that turning-up the pump will not result in less fuel mileage (just putting your foot in it will), I would have to disagree.

Before the spring change, my pump was turned-up as high as it would go (full fuel screw all the way in), and I was just a throttle stab away from runaway...literally...it had snapped to full rpm's several times on me and had to be shut-down to control it.

After the change, Wanna turned my pump down to the point I can raise the idle in neutral without the motor going into runaway condition.
Also, although I have to use the throttle more (I used to drive like there was an egg on the fuel pedal), I'm getting much better fuel mileage with the pump turned down.

Although it's not as fast as it was before, I can actually afford to drive it now (wheeeee!)... plus I plow snow in the winter, and having the truck more drivable is a good thing right now.
AND, I know that all I have to do is get under the hood with a couple wrench's, and I can have my firebreathing,monster truck, back the way it was(come Spring).
