Hood stack has me worried about motor mounts

I put in a hood stack about 2 months ago. Since people are probably gonna ask,
1. No, it is not loud, the rain cap rattle is the worst part.
2. There is NO drone.
3. Yes the windshield does get black over time but cleans up easy.
4. YES, at night when i floor it, it looks like a giant butane lighter

now on to my important question. The outer diameter of the muffler coming through the hood is 5inch. the hole in the hood is 6inch. That gives me 1/2 inch clearance all the way around. When i get on it i can make the hood stack hit the hood... so my question is... do i need motor mounts? since the motor is normally contained under the hood i wouldn't see this. thanks

I wouldn't think 1/2" is excessive. You need play or that torque monster will play heck on stuff.

I would think that 1/2" clearance is not enough,,,,, Does it smack the hood during shut down too?
You can aleays take a jack and a piece of wood, and GENTLY onload the mounts by jacking under the oil pan, and inspect the mounts,,,,,
Gently,,,,, I have some 300+k miles on my mounts and they are still ok

We want video!

Like the other guys said, with only 1/2" of clearance I'd be surprised if it DIDN'T hit the hood.

You might try the old "chain the left side to the frame" trick if you want to limit how far it torques over.

i've got one video off my phone but it's not really all that good... let me see if i can get it posted somewhere.

if the movement isn't a problem i'm not gonna worry, i just had scarey nightmares about that truck that snapped the mounts during a truck pull. pred, as long as it's centered it does not hit the hood on shut down.

I'd be more concerned about damage to the turbo.

Whittle that boy out some.
