motor mounts

Has anyone removed or changed the rubber portion of the motor mounts on one the same as my '99?

I would like to press them out and replace them backwards for a 1/2 inch move foreward. Can this be done?

The rubber biscuits that are enclosed by the bracket, are bonded and will not press out without tearing them apart. You can go aftermarket and get some pretty tough liquid urethane and pour your own mounts with the 1/2" move completed. I did it on a Ford to Cummins repower, and it is a pain.

Thanks for the info. That is the info that I was looking for, not what I wanted to hear, but helps make decisions. Now for a frame stretcher That pretty much eliminates that as a solution right now as I am up agains the clock, have to get it finished. Looks like blow the dust off the torches and grinder.

I think I can get by with some grinding as the interference is from the mount bolt towards the motor and is 1/4 or less. Might be able to gain 1/4 by grinding off the front of the mount center and adding a washer to the back. I will know shortly, not looking forward to sinking it. Big pain will be changing a Power steering pump, have to jack the engine to move it back off. Gonna be a little crowded on the drivers side when finished.

Again, thanks

Well I did that, groung off some from the front of the mount center and added a washer to the back of the same thickness, will move the engine foreward a little and ground off the lip on the top outside of the mount bracket on the frame. Will have enough clearance and the pump is removable without lifting anything. Putting it in today.
