Dodge price quote on my '90 W-350 was $78 !!!! I took my sharp knife and cut away the plastic coating at the **** section of cable which caused it to stick, greased the daylights out of it with Lubriplate, WD-40, PB Blaster and motor oil and called it good.......

I used an old manual choke cable I had laying around for a backup hood release. Mounted the **** on the crossmember behind the front bumper.

I had a piece of poly baling twine routed down the front of the truck between the radiator and grille on my 91 for a backup (ok, it was THE hood opener for 6mo) after the hood release cable broke on me (hood closed- THAT was a nightmare). Get black twine- orange stuff shows up too well and can be seen by all.

I have not done this for 45 years but my teenage friends used to use old starter motor solenoids to release this sort of thing remotely. With all of the remote trunk and door latch stuff around now it should be a piece of cake to hook something up to a switch. Remember you could be in trouble if your battery is stone dead but you can always jump it through your cigarette lighter......

Can you smell the wood burning......
