High egt's non intercooled

Guys i have high egt's in my mud truck. 1300 for short bursts. I dont think the pump is juiced at all but it might be. I never touched it. I plan on doing the valve adjustment this weekend and wanted to advance the timing too. But when i was looking at the pump it looks as though it is timed as far as it can go because there is a fuel line that is right up agains the block. I dont know if it has ever been advanced before but i wanted to do it for the mpg's and lower egt's. Can i just bend the main fuel line a little bit to get it to slide under the head? thanks

If you advance the timing you will show less egts on your pyro, but the temp on top of the piston will go^ up(which could leed to piston melt down) 1300 for short blast should NOT be a problem.

Intercooling it would lower you egt's and give you more usable power(cooler air)
The normal up grade on intercoolers is 2nt gen for non-intercooled truck and And the P/S for the intercooled truck............................

Sense yours is 1 1/4 ton Chev, You might be able to shoe horn in a much larger intercooler such as a 3d gen (03 and up!)

Before I put my IC in I would spike the 1600* guage in a matter of seconds. But since I put the IC in I saw a good 200* drop in my cruising temps and I haven't gotten on it real hard yet because before I put the IC in I saw 45lbs of boost and I am worried about popping my new head off the truck. I would try to fit the IC in there if at all possible.

Mine was non intercooled before i put the an old(used) 2nt gen intercooler in.

Alltho the true test of egts(hot weather) has not been done, my "lift when it hits 1250*" now rarely gos over 900*

Even in the cool weather, if i wanted to, i could hit 1250. now it takes a lot of low rpm shift shifting and a steep hill to get it to hit 1000!

Note:HX35 was added at the same time.............boost is only at 25 p.s.i. (up from the 20 psi that the stock turbo was turning)

Ryan, you will see less boost now because the cooled air is denser. If you think the trans can take it, floor it!

Just take and use a ratchet strap from the pump to the engine lift bracket and move it, the line will move with the pump.
