If it was my truck I'd go to the pump shop and get the right piece.

The retainer is a cup that keeps the spring centered so it doesn't rub on the pin. rubbing bad. Get the right part.

Is there any chance you dropped the parts into the pump cavity?

If you were not sure I would at least check with a small rare earth magnet on a wire.

It could cause some damage to the internal parts or cause the governor to malfunction.

I will check the pump cavity better today. I have checked the ground with metal detector and still nothing. There are no pump shops in my area so I will keep looking.

Look on the frame. I found mine laying on the splash shield between the frame and inner fender.

OK all is good now. I was getting ready to remove intercooler piping for a better look and found it under the pipe on splash shield. Those retainers blend in very well. If I can get back together I will feel alot better.
THANKS!!!

I got it all back together yesterday, with a 3200 spring. Thanks for the help. Yes for those who are wondering the spring is a good upgrade, the truck would stop pulling befor the shift point. Now it pulls all the way.
