Unhappy H1C needs TLC

It was inevitable that after doing the HTT Stage IV compressor up grade that the bearings would soon give up. Soooooooo, I am looking for a rebuild kit for my turbo. I have never gone that far into a turbo before. What are the most common mistakes that can be made to cost me more?

I have rebuilt a H1C and a HX35. It is pretty straight forward, as long as you have not had wheel to housing damage. There is a thrust washer that could be worn. Otherwise the kit has what you need.

I got my rebuild kit from GDS. It was a genuine Holset.

If you got to the Holset website they have service manual downloads for a lot of thier models.

You are going to need some really small snap-ring pliers.

Yes, there is a sticky on an HX35 rebuild but they are the same (internally) as an H1C. I am in the process of rebuilding mine right now. Just make sure you note the position of the thrust washer before you take it off because there are 3 different ways to put it on.

I guess I had sharpen my scribe and match mark everything before it comes off. The compressor side is just starting to touch lightly. SO I have been driving it like I had a raw egg between my shoe and the go pedal. It is my only means of getting around so any down time is not good. There is a rebuild kit on ebay I am bidding on. Hope I get it.

The snap ring pliers are not a problem but, the service manual would not unzip from Holset's web. My rebuild kit should be here Monday.

i guess I should discribe myself as a non computer person in a computer age. The solution was right in front of me all the time. In order to unzip a file, the file needs a destination.
