Got a Quick Question

a couple of weeks ago, i met a guy that has a 1991 standard cab long box, auto, red and white two-tone, 190,000 miles, motor is still stock CTD. This truck is beautiful absolutly No rust..Ze-Barted every year since 91.and just a dent here and there, new tires on an american racing rim. interier is perfect.... ok so we were talking about the truck and i asked him if he would see it.. well he said yes. my eyes lit up. then he told me that he wanted 12,000 for it . Now i know its a nice truck, but i dont think that it is worth 12. maybe 8. but i need some input. what do you guys think. Thanks
Kyle

Guys have gotten prices in that range for extremely well preserved 1st gens, but this one doesn't sound that good. Sounds more like a 6 or 7k truck.

You start at $12k then $8k-$10k doesn't sound so high. I've never give that much for a regular cab auto, it's probly an early 91 too[rolleyes]. The truck might be worth that much to him, but he's the only one thats gonna buy it/drive it for that price. It sure ain't worth that much to anyone else.

When anybody asks, I say I'll take 10 grand. I know it's still worth about the 5k I paid for it, but I need the truck more than the 5k. One of these days some fool is gonna jump at it and I'll be on my way shopping for a 98 12-er

Is it a 4x4? There was one on the ebay that closed up 16,600 a few days ago. It was regular cab 5spd 4x4 with 58,000 miles. Shop around there are always deals to be had. Just look at the post right near this one for the 500 dollar beater(which is not a beater in my eyes). I say from what you said 6-8k sounds about where the market would be at. Sounds like the guy likes the truck but for the right price he would let it go. shoot him your offer and leave a # you never know what might happen 3 months down the road. These trucks ain't getting any cheaper.

Around here, a 1st.gen. in good shape, low miles, will generate more interest, and fetch more money, than a 2nd. gen.

They are also a lot harder to find.

And for who knows what reason, there seem to be five automatics for every 5-speed, causing the 5-speeds to usually bring from a thousand to fifteen hundred more money.
