Probably a pretty good market for that profession right now. Hey, send me a PM before you get to my house so I can get my mods off the truck before you "take her back".

I am thinking about starting a new investment business where we can buy into the futures of repos just like oil but I would probably end up repossessing my own truck.

Sorry I got off the topic.
I have done repos on and off for a few decades. The ones you will run into where the person becomes argumentative or violent are the ones you leave from acting extremely frightened. [This is how we did it anyway] We then observed the patterns and usually ended up securing the debt at a bar within a few days.
Some repos are tough to do. Some folks have legit situations especially with the way things are changing in this day and age. Be prepared to run across some people you know on your repo list.

I had a relative try this for awhile many years ago...He asked me to ride with him one night to get a car from a guy that had him a bit concerned. Sure enough as he was hooking up to the vehicle the guy came out and pulled a knife on him.

I repo'd the knife and he repo'd the vehicle It was enough for my relative to decide he was not cut out to be a repo man. This is one profession that can turn real hairy when you least expect it so BE CAREFUL.

Yep that is one dangerous business....and some repo people have actually been killed from trying to take the owner's vehicles. Not a job I would take likely. Just be sure you have plenty of protection all around because in these current economic times, there are alot of short fuses and doesn't take much for them to go off.

I actually now of a repo that went down, the repo man hooked up to the truck at the guys work place and hauled it away.. one minor glitch he repo'd the wrong truck, he was after the guys roomies truck .. yet another jacked up Chevy 4x4

The guy was actually a good sport about it as it could have led to grand theft auto charges, loss of license, ect. .. So read all of the fine print dude..

Wouldn't a roll back wrecker be quicker than a dolly...

Go here:
kamprats.com

Talk to a member named Digz Dodge, send him a PM (don't post it publicly). He's a repo guy, as is his wife. Very cool people. Tell him i referred you to him, he knows me (we camp together with our desert toys).

hey dude not to burst any bubbles ,ive been doing repos for 10 years now
a) you need a sneakalift its a self loading wheel lift that tucks away under your bumper .when tucked looks lok a class 5 hitch, bad thing you cant do 90degree lift and go you better off getting a gas f450 w/ a dynamic self loader, any way insurance sux but it gets better,a lot of banks/recovery co.want wrongful repo coverage, this is NOT cheap ,ask if the require it trust me its in the fineprint they meaning banks/recovery co will hold payment from you cuz of it ,
b)find a buddy w/ a 22' flatbed &wheel lift that will make trips to the yard much easier ,22' flat bed = 2 cars on bed+ 1 on wheel lift =3 cars &1 fuel bill 1 trip .i used to do it full tme years ago but im gettting older now so not that often when i started 3 of us would pull 50 cats a week, but now i do it when my buddys need help 5-10 a week i have my own busnessnow witch is les stressfull & safer haha ,but hey getting paid to legally steal mann thats a great feeling....need any info just pm me

Once again thanks to everyone so far and i'll be lookin into everything posted and try to contact some of the people ya'll listed to contact. Thanks

Not to sound negative but it will make a crook out of you. And anyone that repo's a car and does not have either the plate number or the serial number compared before pulling it deserves getting busted for it. If the plate is switched you have no problems, if the serial is right you have the right vehicle.

How does it make a crook out of you? For one thing, if the owner knows it is to be repossessed, he will take measures to make it illegal for you to pull the car. You will get it anyway. Some of the things you do are not very legal. You will find about the rest while doing it... Do it long enough and you become hardened and WGAS attitude.

And remember that an owner seeing someone stealing the car can get away with a lot in violence against you in court. You are always in the disadvantage.
